Cloud Openness

The story behind the symbol

In Japanese artist Nakabayashi Chikutō’s 1843 Fragrant Garden under a Hazy Moon, bands of mist are areas of unpainted silk. The Met identifies the imagined garden setting as Chinese through its ornamental rocks.

Original Oralumia reflection

An unfilled space can still belong in the picture. In this original reading, mist invites you to leave a little room around an assumption. You can be interested in what you do not yet know without rushing to complete the story.

A question to sit with

Which assumption could you leave open long enough to learn something new?

One small action

Take two minutes to finish this privately: I might be missing… Then write one question that could help you find out.

The reflection, question and action are original Oralumia writing. Cultural sources provide context, rather than personal advice.
